How to blur a photo background while keeping a person sharp

Blurri's background blur can separate a person from a distracting scene. Review subject edges carefully, since hair, glasses and gaps between arms can be difficult to separate automatically.

Before you begin

Pick a photo with a clearly visible person and inspect the original background. If the purpose is privacy, identify specific background details that must disappear instead of relying only on an overall soft appearance.

Step by step

  1. Open the photo in Blurri and choose background blurring.
  2. Preview the subject separation and adjust the effect.
  3. Inspect hair, shoulders and spaces around the body.
  4. Save the result and compare it with the original.

Check the result

Look for a halo, sharp background patches or parts of the subject accidentally blurred. The most pleasing result is not always the strongest effect; keep the person readable while reducing distraction.

Limits and troubleshooting

Background blur is not a guarantee that addresses, documents or screens become unreadable. Inspect those regions separately before sharing, and avoid publishing the image if identifying information remains visible.
