About the Blur & Pixelate Image
This tool hides the parts of a photo that shouldnโt be seen before you share it: other peopleโs faces in a group photo, license plates, the name, address and phone number on a shipping label, or account numbers and messages in a screenshot. You can cover any personal information in a few seconds.
All editing happens in your browser, so even sensitive photos never reach an outside server. The image is saved at its original resolution.
How to use
- Drop a photo into the box above or tap it to choose one.
- Choose an effect. Pixelate turns the area into large blocks, Blur makes it soft, and Black out covers it completely.
- Box applies the effect to the area you drag; Brush applies it where you rub. You can adjust the strength and brush size.
- Made a mistake? Tap Undo. When youโre done, tap Save.
Which effect should I use?
- Pixelate (square blocks): faces, license plates.
- Blur (soft and smooth): people in the background, a natural-looking cover.
- Black out (solid black box): ID and account numbers, document details.
Text and numbers hidden with a weak pixelation or blur can sometimes be guessed or reconstructed. The more sensitive the information, the more you should use Black out or a strength of 8 or higher.
Personal information to hide before sharing
- Names, addresses, phone numbers and barcodes on shipping labels
- License plates, house numbers and street signs that reveal where you live
- Numbers and photos on ID cards, credit cards and bank documents
- Contact names and profile pictures in chat screenshots
- Childrenโs name tags and school names on bags or uniforms
FAQ
Are my photos stored on a server?
No. Pixelating and saving happen only in the browser you are using, and your photos are not sent anywhere.
Can the blur be undone?
Before saving, you can fix anything with Undo and Start over. In the saved image, the original pixels of the hidden area are gone, so it cannot be reversed.
Does it work on a phone?
Yes. Drag with your finger to draw a box or rub with the brush. The page doesnโt scroll while your finger is on the photo, so drag outside the photo to scroll.
Does saving reduce quality?
The image is saved at its original resolution. PNG is lossless, and JPG is saved at quality 92, so you will hardly see a difference.
