About the Image Cropper

This image cropper keeps the part of a photo you need and cuts away the rest. Use it to make a square profile picture, fit a photo to a fixed ratio for a YouTube thumbnail or wallpaper, or keep only the relevant part of a screenshot. Drag the crop box with your finger or mouse to move it, and drag the corner handles to resize it.

All editing happens in your browser, and the crop is saved at the original quality.

How to use

  1. Drop a photo into the box above or tap it to choose one.
  2. Pick a ratio at the top. Choose Free to crop any shape.
  3. Drag inside the box to move it, and drag the corner or edge handles to resize it. Dragging outside the box draws a new area.
  4. Rotate or flip if needed, set the output width and format, then tap Crop & save.

Recommended ratios

RatioUsed for
1:1Profile pictures, square Instagram posts
4:3 / 3:4Standard smartphone and camera photos
16:9YouTube thumbnails, desktop wallpapers, presentations
9:16Instagram Stories and Reels, TikTok, phone wallpapers

Tips for a better crop

  • Use the 3×3 guide lines in the box. Placing eyes or the main subject where the lines cross gives a balanced composition (rule of thirds).
  • Leave some room around the face in profile pictures: most apps show square photos as a circle.
  • Leave the output width empty to save at the original resolution. If file size matters, enter about 1080.

FAQ

Does cropping reduce quality?

The selected area is cut out at the original resolution, so there is practically no quality loss. PNG is lossless, and JPG is saved at quality 92.

Can I use it on my phone?

Yes. Drag the box with your finger to move it and drag the corner handles to resize it. The page doesn’t scroll while your finger is on the photo, so drag outside the photo to scroll.

My photo appears sideways.

The rotation stored in the photo is applied automatically. If it’s still the wrong way round, fix it with the 90° rotate buttons before cropping.

Are my photos uploaded?

No. Cropping and saving happen entirely in your browser and your photos are not sent anywhere.
