TV remote app connects but volume does not work
A successful connection does not prove the app can control the active audio output. TV speakers, a soundbar and a streaming player can each use different volume paths.
App used in this guide: TV Remote ↗
Before you begin
Check where sound is playing and which physical remote changes its volume. Note whether you are connected to the TV itself or a separate streaming device.
Step by step
- Test arrows and OK to confirm the network connection.
- Try one volume step and mute while watching the TV's volume indicator.
- If a receiver or soundbar controls sound, test its original remote and review the TV's audio-output settings.
Check the result
A moving TV volume indicator with unchanged loudness usually points to a different active audio device. Avoid repeatedly increasing volume while diagnosing.
If it does not work
Roku Stick and Express do not expose TV volume through this app's network commands. Use the audio device's supported control method; Premium cannot add a command the device lacks.
