Use your iPhone as a Samsung TV remote

Before you connect

Turn the TV on with its physical button or original remote. Confirm that it is already connected to your home network. A Wi-Fi remote cannot set up a TV that has no network connection, and your iPhone does not act as an infrared remote.

Have the original remote available for the first pairing: the TV may ask you to approve access. Do not assume that installing an app will bypass this prompt.

Connect with SpaceNode TV Remote

1. Connect your iPhone to the same home network as the Samsung TV. Avoid a guest network that separates devices.
2. Open TV Remote · Universal Control and allow Local Network access when iOS asks.
3. Open the TV connection screen and choose your Samsung TV from the discovered devices.
4. Watch the TV for an access request and approve the connection. If the app asks you to retry after approval, connect again.
5. Try the directional buttons and OK first, then test Home and volume. Available controls depend on the model.

If the TV does not appear

Open iPhone Settings → Privacy & Security → Local Network and check access for the remote app. Keep the TV awake and use the scan option in the app’s connection screen. Check whether the phone is on guest Wi-Fi or a VPN that prevents local connections.

If you know the TV’s local IP address, the connection screen also offers manual entry. This can help discovery, but does not bypass network isolation, unsupported hardware, or the TV’s approval step.

Choose the method that fits your TV

Samsung’s SmartThings is another option for supported Samsung TVs. SpaceNode TV Remote is useful if you want one interface for several supported TV platforms. Check the controls you need on your own TV before subscribing; touchpad, keyboard and other Premium features are not identical across every model.

If your TV is older or cannot accept a network remote connection, keep using its physical remote or a compatible replacement.
