How to compare overseas prices in your home currency

Converting two prices into one currency makes a comparison easier to read. To make the comparison useful, include known delivery charges and compare the same quantity or product variant.

Before you begin

Record the listed currency code rather than relying on a symbol. Check whether the advertised price includes the items you are comparing; different sizes or quantities can matter more than a small exchange-rate difference.

Step by step

  1. Enter the first price in its source-currency row in Currency.
  2. Record the home-currency result and the update date.
  3. Repeat with the second price using its own source currency.
  4. Compare the totals with known delivery and other applicable charges included separately.

Check the result

For bundles, calculate a per-unit price before converting. Keep the unconverted source price so you can revisit the comparison when a seller changes its offer.

Limits and troubleshooting

Reference conversions are not a checkout quote. Card fees, merchant currency conversion and other charges may change the final amount, so verify the payment screen before deciding that one option is cheaper.
