How to convert a currency amount on iPhone
Currency shows an amount in several currencies using its loaded exchange rates. Choose the currency of the original price before entering the amount to avoid reversing the conversion.
App used in this guide: Currency ↗
Before you begin
Identify currencies by their three-letter codes when symbols are ambiguous. A dollar symbol alone does not tell you whether a price is in US, Canadian or Australian dollars.
Step by step
- Open Convert in Currency and add the currencies you need.
- Tap the row for the currency of the original amount.
- Enter the amount and confirm the calculation.
- Read the result on the destination currency's row.
Check the result
Check the source amount, the two currency codes and the rate's update information. For example, a price quoted in JPY should be entered in the JPY row, not in your home-currency row.
Limits and troubleshooting
The displayed conversion is a reference estimate. Banks, cards and exchange providers can use different rates and fees, so use their final quote when you need to know the amount you will actually pay.
