How to hide a license plate in a photo or video
Use a manual photo edit or Blurri's supported video object targeting to cover a plate. Check the letters and digits at full size before sharing vehicle images.
App used in this guide: Blurri ↗
Before you begin
Find every plate in the scene, including parked cars in the background. Reflections, repeated shots and frames near the beginning or end can expose information you missed in the main view.
Step by step
- For a photo, open it in Blurri and cover the plate with the manual tool.
- For a video, select the relevant object target and review the detected result.
- Apply an appropriate effect and render or save the edit.
- Inspect the exported file closely wherever a plate appears.
Check the result
Check whether any characters remain recognizable and whether the effect covers the full plate as the camera moves. Also inspect badges, addresses and other details if the broader goal is to conceal a location or identity.
Limits and troubleshooting
Automatic plate detection can miss unusual angles or small plates. If the information remains readable, do not publish the result as anonymized; revise the edit or use footage that does not contain it.
