How to blur faces in a photo on iPhone

Blurri can detect faces in a photo and apply a blur effect. Automatic detection is a starting point; inspect the finished image before sharing anything that needs privacy protection.

Before you begin

Choose the original photo at a useful resolution. Faces in reflections, at the edge of the frame or turned away from the camera may be harder to detect than clear front-facing portraits.

Step by step

  1. Open the photo in Blurri's photo editor.
  2. Run face detection and review the detected areas.
  3. Apply a blur style and adjust its intensity.
  4. Save the edited result and zoom into every face before sharing it.

Check the result

Check the background as well as the main subjects. Clothing, badges, location details and other visible clues can still identify a person even when their face is blurred.

Limits and troubleshooting

If a face is missed, use manual editing to cover it and inspect again. A light blur is a visual effect, not a guarantee of anonymity; avoid publishing the image if you cannot reliably conceal the information it contains.
