Print Google Drive files from an iPhone

Smart Printer accesses Google Drive files through the iPhone’s document picker. Install and sign in to Google Drive, enable it in Files, then choose a file from Smart Printer. Your printer still needs AirPrint and a reachable local network connection.

Make Drive visible in Files

  1. Install the official Google Drive app and sign in to the account that owns or can access the file.
  2. Open the iPhone’s Files app and go to Browse.
  3. Open the more menu, choose Edit, and enable Google Drive if it is listed.
  4. Return to Browse and confirm that you can open the desired file.

If Drive is missing, open the Drive app once, check sign-in, and return to Files. Managed accounts may limit downloading or sharing; the printing app cannot override those rules.

Open the file in Smart Printer

On Smart Printer’s Print screen, choose Google Drive or Documents. In the document picker, browse to Drive and select the file. Wait for it to download before starting a print job.

The app includes a Google Drive setup guide for this Files integration. You do not enter a Google password into a separate SpaceNode account.

Check the document, then print

Preview the content and choose Print. Select your AirPrint-compatible printer and review the available page, copy and paper settings.

For native Google Docs, Sheets or Slides documents, export a PDF using the corresponding Google app when needed, then open that PDF. A link or shortcut to a cloud document is not always a printable document file. Check spreadsheet page breaks and wide tables in the PDF before using paper.

When something is missing

If Files cannot open the document, check its permissions and download status in Google Drive first. If the document opens but no printer appears, use the AirPrint checklist linked below.

For a one-off print, the document app’s own Print command may be enough. Smart Printer is useful when you want Drive files, scanned PDFs and photos available from a single printing workflow. Its free print allowance and Premium options are shown in the app.
