How to scan a passport photo page on iPhone
Scanner 1.0 is awaiting App Store review. This guide previews the submitted version; a public download is not available yet.
Scanner includes a Passport mode for capturing the passport's photo page. A readable digital copy can help organize travel documents, but it does not replace a passport.
App used in this guide: Scanner ↗
Before you begin
Open the passport gently on a flat surface without forcing the binding. Keep the photo page visible and position the light so the laminated area does not reflect directly into the camera.
Step by step
- Choose Scan Passport in Scanner.
- Hold the photo page inside the capture frame and keep the phone steady.
- Review the image, including the lines of characters at the bottom of the page.
- Save with a recognizable name and share only when needed.
Check the result
Check the photo, passport number and dates at full size. Do not publish this scan in an example, review or social post; use a clearly fictional sample if you need to demonstrate the workflow.
Limits and troubleshooting
Capture again if the binding curves the text or glare hides part of the page. The app captures an image; it does not certify a passport, validate immigration documents or guarantee that a recipient will accept the copy.
