How to choose which similar photos to keep
Similar-photo groups can contain worthwhile differences: a sharper face, an open pair of eyes or a better moment. Use Cleanup Pro to compare, then choose deliberately.
App used in this guide: Cleanup Pro ↗
Before you begin
Start with a small group rather than a large batch. Think about what matters for that scene, such as a readable sign, an unblurred subject or a complete group of people.
Step by step
- Open a similar-photo group in Cleanup Pro.
- View candidates at a useful size and compare focus and framing.
- Keep the best shot and any meaningfully different alternatives.
- Select unwanted images and review them before confirming deletion.
Check the result
Check the chosen keeper in Photos after the operation. If several pictures tell different parts of the story, keeping more than one is reasonable even when the app grouped them together.
Limits and troubleshooting
Similarity does not mean that a photo has no value. Avoid using a category name as permission to delete everything, and remember that iCloud Photos deletion can propagate to other devices signed in to the same account.
