Before you begin
Keep a recoverable original and store the password appropriately. A password set on one exported copy does not retroactively protect versions you already emailed or saved elsewhere.
Step by step
- Open the PDF security tool and select the document.
- Enter the password using the offered fields and confirm the operation.
- Close the document and open the protected output again.
- Test access with the password before sharing the file.
Check the result
Send the password through a separate channel when appropriate. Check with the recipient that their reader can open the protected document and that the file is the version you intended to send.
Limits and troubleshooting
Password removal requires legitimate access to the protected content; it is not a password-recovery or bypass feature. If you forget a password, use your retained source rather than assuming the app can recover it.
