About the Split PDF

This PDF splitter saves selected pages of a large PDF as a new file or breaks it into several PDFs. Tap the page previews to pick pages, or type a range such as 1-3, 5.

When the result is more than one file, they are bundled into a single ZIP download. Everything runs in your browser, so your file is never sent anywhere.

How to use

  1. Tap the box above and choose the PDF you want to split. A preview of every page appears.
  2. Pick a mode: Extract pages, Split by range or Every page.
  3. Choose pages by tapping the previews or by typing a range like 1-3, 5.
  4. Press the button below to download the PDF (or a ZIP when there are several files).

How to type page ranges

InputMeaning
5Page 5 only
1-3Pages 1, 2 and 3
1-3, 7, 9-10Pages 1–3, 7 and 9–10
8-Page 8 to the last page
-4First page to page 4

In Split by range, each comma-separated group becomes its own PDF. For example, 1-10, 11-20 gives you two 10-page PDFs.

When it comes in handy

  • Separate a batch scan that contains documents for several people
  • Meet an upload size limit by keeping only the pages you need
  • Save a single chapter of a textbook or report

To put files back together, use Merge PDF.

FAQ

Does splitting reduce the quality?

No. Pages are copied as they are, not converted to images, so text and graphics look exactly like the original.

How do I open the ZIP file?

On Windows and Mac, double-click it. On iPhone, tap the ZIP in the Files app to unpack it; on Android, open it in your file manager and choose Extract.

Can I split a password-protected PDF?

Not if it has an open password, because its content can’t be read. Save an unlocked copy first and then split it.

Is my file uploaded to a server?

No. Previews and splitting both happen in your browser, and the file is never sent anywhere.
