About the GIF Maker

This GIF maker combines a series of photos or images into one animated GIF. Use it for reaction GIFs, 360ยฐ product spins, step-by-step explanations or short animations for a group chat. GIFs play everywhere without a video player: in messaging apps, blogs, forums and email.

Everything happens in your browser and your photos are not uploaded. There is no watermark.

How to use

  1. Drop two or more photos into the box above or tap it to choose them. They become frames in list order.
  2. Reorder them with the โ†‘ โ†“ buttons and set the speed with Frame delay. 0.1 s gives fast motion; 0.5โ€“1 s feels like a slideshow.
  3. Choose the size and loop count, and turn on Boomerang if you like. The preview updates instantly.
  4. Tap Make GIF, then Download GIF.

How to keep GIFs small

  • Size: 480px on the long side is sharp enough for chats and forums. Halving the size makes the file about four times smaller.
  • Number of frames: more frames mean a bigger file. Leave out near-duplicate photos.
  • Type of image: each GIF frame can use only 256 colors, so photos with smooth gradients get large and may show banding. Simple graphics and screenshots look cleaner.

Many messaging apps send very large GIFs as still images, so aim for less than 10 MB.

Frame delay and frames per second (fps)

0.05โ€“0.1 s10โ€“20 fpsSmooth motion
0.2โ€“0.3 s3โ€“5 fpsStop motion

Some browsers play delays shorter than 0.02 s at 0.1 s, so use 0.05 s or more.

FAQ

Can the photos have different sizes?

Yes. The GIF takes the aspect ratio of the first photo, and the others are adjusted with the option you choose: Fill (edges cropped) or Fit (padding added).

Can I convert a video to GIF?

This tool builds GIFs from photos (images). For a video, first take screenshots of the scenes you want and add them as images.

My GIF plays once and stops.

Set Loop to Forever and make the GIF again. With Play once or Play 3 times, it stops on the last frame after that many plays.

Are my photos uploaded to a server?

No. Everything, including GIF encoding, runs in your browser, and your photos are not sent anywhere.
