About the Image Converter

This image converter changes the file format of photos and graphics. Use it when a website only accepts JPG, when a WebP image you downloaded wonโ€™t open, or when you need a logo as a PNG with a transparent background.

Conversion happens in your browser and images are never sent to a server. The resolution stays the same as the original, and the photoโ€™s rotation (EXIF orientation) is applied so it is saved the right way up.

How to use

  1. Drop images into the box above or tap it to choose files. Screenshots can be pasted with Ctrl+V.
  2. Pick the format to convert to: JPG, PNG or WebP.
  3. For JPG and WebP you can set the quality; for JPG you can also pick the color that fills transparent areas.
  4. Tap Save for each image or Save all (ZIP).

Converting a transparent PNG to JPG

JPG canโ€™t store transparency, so transparent areas are filled with a single color. The default is white; if the image will sit on a dark background, choose black or any other color. If you need to keep the transparency, choose PNG or WebP instead.

FAQ

Can I convert animated GIFs?

PNG, JPG and WebP are saved as still images, so only the first frame of a GIF is converted. To turn several photos into an animated GIF, use the GIF Maker.

Does converting reduce quality?

Converting to PNG causes no quality loss. JPG and WebP at quality 92 are visually indistinguishable, and the resolution stays the same as the original.

Does it work with iPhone HEIC photos?

Yes. When you add a HEIC file, the converter engine is loaded and the photo is converted to JPG, PNG or WebP. The first time may take a few seconds while the engine downloads.

Are my images stored on a server?

No. All conversion happens in the browser on your device, and files are not sent anywhere.
