About the Random Number Generator

This random number generator picks whole numbers in any range you set. Use it for raffle tickets, picking a student by roll number, deciding turn order or generating numbers for games.

Numbers come from your browser's cryptographic random generator (crypto.getRandomValues), which is far less predictable than Math.random, and every number in the range is equally likely.

How to use

  1. Enter the min, max and how many numbers you want. The quick-pick buttons below draw common ranges in one tap.
  2. If the same number may appear more than once, turn on Allow repeats. By default numbers don't repeat.
  3. For raffles where you draw winners one at a time, turn on Draw mode: numbers already drawn are skipped next time.
  4. Press Generate. A single number is shown large, and Full screen puts it on the whole screen.

No repeats vs. repeats allowed

ModeHow it worksExample
No repeatsA number appears at most once per result. You can't draw more numbers than the range holds.5 presenters from a class of 30
Allow repeatsEach number is drawn independently, so the same one can come up again.Rolling a die 10 times, a 4-digit PIN
Draw modeAcross several draws, numbers that came up before never return.Drawing 1st, 2nd and 3rd prize in turn

Tips for a fair raffle

  • Announce the range and the number of winners before you draw.
  • Turn on Draw mode and use Full screen so everyone sees each number as it comes up.
  • Draw mode history is saved on this device; press Reset draw before starting a new raffle.
  • The Powerball quick pick draws 5 main numbers from 1–69; the red Powerball (1–26) is a separate draw.

FAQ

Can I use negative or very large numbers?

Yes. Any whole numbers from -1,000,000,000 to 1,000,000,000 work, and you can generate up to 1,000 numbers at once.

How many numbers can I draw without repeats?

At most as many as the range contains. For 1–10 that's 10, and drawing all 10 gives a random shuffle of 1 to 10.

What happens if I change the range in draw mode?

A new range counts as a new draw, so the list of numbers drawn so far starts over.

Can it generate decimals?

It only generates whole numbers. For decimals, scale the range and divide: for 0.00–1.00, draw 0–100 and divide by 100.
