About the Temperature Converter
Type a temperature in the Fahrenheit, Celsius or Kelvin box and the other two are calculated instantly. It is handy for weather forecasts abroad, metric recipes, thermometers that show °C, and science homework in Kelvin.
How to use
- Type a temperature in the Fahrenheit, Celsius or Kelvin box.
- The other boxes and the result update immediately. Use a minus sign for temperatures below zero.
- Tap a row in the Everyday temperatures or Oven temperature chart to load it.
Fahrenheit to Celsius formula
| Conversion | Formula | Example |
|---|---|---|
| °F → °C | °C = (°F − 32) × 5/9 | 98.6°F → 37°C |
| °C → °F | °F = °C × 9/5 + 32 | 20°C → 68°F |
| °C → K | K = °C + 273.15 | 0°C → 273.15 K |
| °F → K | K = (°F − 32) × 5/9 + 273.15 | 32°F → 273.15 K |
Quick mental math: °C ≈ (°F − 30) ÷ 2 and °F ≈ °C × 2 + 30. It is close for everyday weather (within about 2 degrees between 0 and 30 °C) but not for cooking temperatures.
Fever thresholds
A normal body temperature is around 97–99°F (36.1–37.2°C). A temperature of 100.4°F (38°C) or higher is generally considered a fever. Readings differ by method (oral, ear, forehead, rectal), so follow your thermometer’s instructions and ask a doctor when in doubt.
FAQ
What is 350°F in Celsius?
350°F is about 177°C. Ovens with Celsius dials usually step in 10 degrees, so set them to 175–180°C.
How do I convert Celsius to Fahrenheit?
Multiply by 9/5 (1.8) and add 32. For example, 25°C × 1.8 + 32 = 77°F.
At what temperature are Fahrenheit and Celsius the same?
At −40 degrees: −40°F equals −40°C.
Can a temperature be below 0 Kelvin?
No. 0 K (−273.15°C, −459.67°F) is absolute zero, the lowest possible temperature, so this tool won’t calculate anything below it.
