About the Signature Generator
This free signature generator creates a signature image you can add to PDFs, contracts, Word documents, emails and invoices. When you draw, the line gets thinner as you move faster, just like a real pen, so the result looks natural. Prefer typing? Enter your name and pick one of the cursive fonts such as Great Vibes or Dancing Script.
The PNG you download has a transparent background and is trimmed automatically, so it sits cleanly on a signature line. Everything happens in your browser. Your signature is never uploaded.
How to use
- Choose Draw and sign in the box with your finger, stylus or mouse. Use Undo or Clear if you want to try again.
- Or choose Type, enter your name and tap the style you like.
- Pick an ink color and pen width. Black or navy blue works well for most documents.
- Tap Download PNG to save a transparent signature image. Drawn signatures can also be saved as a scalable SVG.
How to add your signature to a document
| App | Steps |
|---|---|
| Microsoft Word | Insert โ Pictures โ choose the PNG โ Wrap Text โ In Front of Text |
| Google Docs | Insert โ Image โ Upload from computer, then choose In front of text |
| Adobe Acrobat Reader | Fill & Sign โ Sign โ Add signature โ Image |
| Mac Preview | Open the PDF, paste the PNG (โV) and drag it to the signature line |
| iPhone / iPad | Open the PDF in Files โ Markup โ + โ Add Photo |
Because the background is transparent, the signature doesnโt cover the line or text below it. For printing, you can switch on White background.
Signature image vs. electronic signature
In the US, the ESIGN Act and UETA generally allow electronic signatures, including an image of a handwritten signature, when both parties agree to sign electronically. In the EU, eIDAS calls this a simple electronic signature. A signature image alone does not prove who signed or protect the document from later changes. For mortgages, notarized documents or anything that needs identity verification, use the platform or certified e-signature your counterpart requires.
FAQ
Is my signature uploaded or stored?
No. Your signature is drawn and exported entirely in your browser. To make it easy to come back, the last signature is kept only in this browser on this device, and Clear deletes it.
What is the difference between PNG and SVG?
PNG is an image that works in almost every app and keeps the transparent background. SVG is a vector file that stays sharp at any size, which is useful for design tools and websites. SVG is available for drawn signatures.
Can I use it on my phone?
Yes. Signing with a finger on a phone or with an Apple Pencil on an iPad works well. Turning the phone sideways gives you a wider signing area.
Which fonts can I use for a typed signature?
Latin names get cursive fonts such as Great Vibes, Dancing Script, Allura, Sacramento and Mr Dafoe. Names in Korean, Japanese or Chinese characters get handwriting fonts that support those scripts.
