About the What Is My Screen Resolution

This tool shows the screen resolution, browser viewport size and device pixel ratio (DPR) of the device you're using right now. It's handy for setting responsive breakpoints, checking that a new monitor runs at its native resolution, or picking the right wallpaper size.

Browsers report resolution in CSS pixels, which already include your operating system's display scaling. Multiply by the DPR to get the panel's physical pixels.

How to use

  1. Open the page. Your screen resolution appears at the top right away.
  2. Below it, check the browser window size, pixel ratio and physical pixels.
  3. Resize the window or turn your phone sideways and the values update live.
  4. Press Copy all info to copy every value as text for a support ticket or bug report.

Resolution vs. viewport vs. DPR

ValueMeaning
Screen resolutionFull screen size after OS scaling (CSS pixels)
Available areaScreen minus the taskbar, Dock or menu bar
Browser windowThe area where the web page is shown (what responsive breakpoints use)
DPRPhysical pixels per CSS pixel
Physical pixelsResolution × DPR, close to the panel's real pixel count

For example, a 4K (3840×2160) monitor at 150% scaling in Windows reports 2560×1440 with a DPR of 1.5, which works out to 3840×2160 physical pixels.

FAQ

I have a 4K monitor. Why is the resolution shown smaller?

Your operating system's display scaling (Windows scale setting or macOS resolution setting) is applied. Browsers report CSS pixels divided by that scale, so look at the physical pixels (resolution × DPR).

Does zooming the browser change the values?

Yes. Zooming with Ctrl (⌘) + scroll or +/− changes both the DPR and the window size in CSS pixels. Reset zoom to 100% for accurate values.

My phone shows a smaller resolution than its specs.

Phones have a DPR of 2–3, so CSS pixels look small. A 1179×2556 screen with DPR 3, for example, shows as 393×852. Check that the physical pixels match the spec.

Is any of this stored or sent anywhere?

No. All values are read by your browser on your device and displayed; nothing is sent anywhere.
