About the URL QR Code Generator
A link QR code opens a web page as soon as someone scans it with a phone camera. Instead of printing a long address on a poster, flyer, business card, product package or slide, you add one small square.
The code made here contains your URL directly. It is a static QR code with no redirect server in between, so there is no expiry, no scan limit and no surprise paywall. It is generated in your browser, so the link you enter isn’t stored anywhere.
How to use
- Copy the address of the page you want to open and paste it into Website URL. If you leave out https://, it’s added for you.
- The QR code appears instantly. Open Design to change colors or add your logo in the center.
- Scan it with your own phone to make sure the right page opens.
- Click Download PNG (documents, social media) or Download SVG (print and design tools).
Static vs. dynamic: why “free” QR codes stop working
Many online QR generators create dynamic QR codes: the code contains the provider’s short link, and every scan passes through their server before reaching your page. That lets you change the destination and see scan stats, but when the trial ends or you cancel the subscription, codes you’ve already printed stop working.
| Static (this tool) | Dynamic (subscription) | |
|---|---|---|
| Cost | Free | Usually monthly |
| Expiry | Never | Stops when the plan ends |
| Change destination | No (make a new code) | Yes |
| Scan stats | No | Yes |
You can get “editable” behavior with a static code too: point it at a page you control (a blog post, a Notion page, a link-in-bio page) and update that page instead of the code.
Popular things to link
- Google Forms: click Send › Link and tick Shorten URL to get a short forms.gle address. Great for surveys, event sign-ups and attendance.
- Notion: the page must be published to the web, otherwise people without access can’t open it.
- Google Drive files and PDFs: set sharing to Anyone with the link before copying the URL.
- Online store products, Google Maps listings, review pages, YouTube videos, portfolios and event pages all work the same way.
Make your link QR code easier to scan
- Shorter URLs give a code with fewer, larger modules, so it scans better when printed small or from a distance. Check whether tracking tails like
?utm_…or&fbclid=…can be removed. - Prefer official short links such as forms.gle or youtu.be. If a third-party URL shortener shuts down or deletes your link, the QR code breaks with it.
- Print it at least 2 cm (0.8 in) wide, about one tenth of the scanning distance.
FAQ
How long will my link QR code work?
The QR code itself never expires. It works as long as the web page it points to is online, even if this site disappears.
Can I change the link after printing?
Not in the code itself; it’s static. If the content changes often, point the code at a page you can edit yourself from the start.
Can I track how many people scanned it?
This tool doesn’t track scans. Add UTM parameters such as ?utm_source=qr to your URL and you’ll see the visits in Google Analytics or your own analytics tool.
Will people see ads or a redirect page first?
No. The phone opens your URL directly, with no interstitial page and no ads.
