About the vCard QR Code Generator

Save the people you meet from typing your number and email by hand. When they scan a vCard QR code, their phone opens an Add contact screen and one tap stores your name, company, phone, email and website, with no typos.

This tool encodes your details in vCard 3.0, the standard contact format every modern smartphone understands. It is a static QR code that doesnโ€™t go through any server, so it is free and never expires, and your personal details are never uploaded: everything happens in your browser.

How to use

  1. Enter your Name and Company. A name or a mobile number is enough to generate a code.
  2. Add your Mobile, Email and Website. Write the phone number in international format (e.g. +1 555 123 4567) so it also works for contacts abroad.
  3. Scan the code with your own phone and check that the contact card shows everything correctly.
  4. For printed business cards, click Download SVG to get a vector file for your designer or print shop. For everything else the 2048px Download PNG works fine.

Address, job title and photo are left out on purpose: every extra field makes the code denser and harder to scan at business-card size. To share more, put a link to your bio page or link-in-bio profile in the Website field.

What happens on iPhone and Android

  • iPhone: point the Camera app at the code and tap the contact notification. A preview card opens; tap Create New Contact to save it.
  • Android: scan with the camera or Google Lens and tap Add contact. Samsung Galaxy phones recognize it straight from the Camera app.
  • Nothing is saved automatically: the person scanning always confirms before the contact is added.

Size and placement on a business card

  • A US business card is 3.5 ร— 2 in (89 ร— 51 mm); European cards are usually 85 ร— 55 mm. Print the code at at least 2 cm (0.8 in), ideally 2.5 cm (1 in). A vCard holds more text than a link, so its modules are smaller.
  • Leave a white margin (quiet zone) of about four modules around the code. The downloaded image already includes it; donโ€™t crop it off.
  • Skip the center logo on small cards. If you want one, test-scan a printed proof with several phones first.
  • A short line like โ€œScan to save my contactโ€ next to the code noticeably increases scans.

FAQ

If my phone number changes, do I need a new code?

Yes. The contact details are stored inside the image, so they canโ€™t be edited later. In return the code never expires and keeps working even if this website disappears.

Do accented or non-Latin names work?

Yes. The content is encoded as UTF-8, which the built-in cameras on current iPhones and Android phones read correctly. If an old third-party scanner shows garbled characters, try another app.

Are my personal details stored on a server?

No. The QR code is generated in your browser and your name, phone number and email are never sent anywhere.

vCard QR code or a link QR code: which is better?

A vCard QR saves you straight into the other personโ€™s contacts and works offline. If you want to show a portfolio and social profiles, or you update your details often, a link QR to your own profile page can be a better fit.
