About the Email QR Code Generator
When someone scans an email QR code, their phone opens the mail app with the recipient, subject and message already in place. They review it, maybe add a line, and tap Send. No mistyped addresses, no bounced emails, and a fixed subject line makes the messages easy to sort.
The code contains a standard mailto: link, stored directly in the image as a static QR code. It is free and never expires, and the address and text you type are never uploaded: everything happens in your browser.
How to use
- Enter the address that should receive the emails in To. That field alone is enough to create the code.
- Add a Subject. Including where the email comes from, like โ[Table 5] Feedbackโ, makes sorting easy.
- Optionally pre-write the Message, e.g. a short form (Name: / Phone: / Question:). Line breaks are kept.
- Scan the code with your phone to check that the address, subject and message are filled in, then click Download PNG or Download SVG.
Great uses for an email QR code
- Customer feedback: put it on the counter or tables and collect comments people wouldnโt say out loud.
- Support and warranty requests: print it in a manual or on packaging so requests arrive with a subject like โ[Model X] Supportโ.
- RSVPs: add it to invitations with a prefilled body such as โYes, Iโll attend. Number of guests: โ.
- Quote or booking requests, contest entries and lost and found reports also benefit from a fixed format.
Use a slightly different subject per location or flyer (e.g. โFlyer Aโ, โPoster Bโ) and youโll see which one brings in the most messages.
What happens when someone scans it?
- iPhone: the Camera app shows an email notification; tapping it opens the default mail app (Mail, Gmail, Outlookโฆ).
- Android: the camera or Google Lens offers to open a mail app, usually Gmail, with the draft ready.
- The email is sent from the scannerโs own account. Nothing is sent automatically: they always tap Send themselves.
- If no mail app is set up on the phone, the link may not open, so print the email address as text next to the code too.
Good to know
- A long message makes the code denser. Keep the body to a few lines of instructions or a short form.
- Attachments and CC canโt be included. A single recipient address is the most reliable.
- Anyone can read the address from a public QR code. A dedicated inbox (e.g. feedback@โฆ) is easier to protect from spam than your personal one.
FAQ
Does an email QR code expire?
No. The address and text are stored in the image itself, so the code works as long as the email address does.
Can I leave the subject and message empty?
Yes. With only a recipient, the scan opens a blank email to that address. A prefilled subject, though, makes the incoming messages much easier to find and sort.
Do accents and special characters work?
Yes. The subject and body are URL-encoded, so major mail apps such as Apple Mail, Gmail and Outlook display them correctly.
Is the email address I enter stored anywhere?
No. The QR code is generated in your browser and nothing you type is sent to a server.
