About the QR Code Generator

This QR code generator turns a link or other information into a QR code that any smartphone camera can scan. It is perfect for restaurant menus, Wi-Fi access for guests, business cards and flyers. Every code made here is a static QR code: the content is stored in the image itself, so it is free forever, never expires and has no scan limits. No account, no watermark, no trial that turns your codes off after 14 days.

How to use

  1. Choose the type of QR code at the top: URL, Text, Wi-Fi, Contact, Email or Phone/SMS.
  2. Fill in the fields. The QR code is generated instantly on the right (below on mobile).
  3. Open Design to change the colors, the image size or add a logo in the center.
  4. Click Download PNG or Download SVG. For print, use SVG or the 2048px PNG.
  5. Scan the code with your phone once before printing to make sure it works.

Static vs. dynamic QR codes

Static (this tool)Dynamic (subscription services)
CostFreeUsually a monthly fee
ExpiryNeverStops working if the plan ends
Edit content laterNo (make a new code)Yes
Scan statisticsNoYes
PrivacyNo redirect, no trackingScans pass through the provider

Many “free” QR generators actually create dynamic codes that redirect through their servers and stop working after a trial. A static code points straight to your content, so it keeps working even if this website disappears.

Wi-Fi QR codes

Enter your network name (SSID) and password to create a code guests can scan to join your Wi-Fi without typing. The built-in camera on iPhone (iOS 11 and later) and on most Android phones supports Wi-Fi QR codes. Print it for your café, Airbnb, office or guest room.

Tips for QR codes that scan reliably

  • Use a dark code on a light background with strong contrast. Some phones can’t read inverted (light-on-dark) codes.
  • Print it at least 2 × 2 cm (about 0.8 × 0.8 in). A good rule of thumb: the code should be one tenth of the scanning distance.
  • Adding a logo hides part of the code, so error correction is automatically raised to High.
  • Shorter content means fewer, larger modules. Use a short URL when you can.

FAQ

Do these QR codes expire?

No. They are static QR codes with the content stored in the image itself, so they work forever, even if this site goes offline. The trade-off is that you can’t change the content later; just create a new code.

Can I use the QR codes commercially?

Yes. Use them on menus, packaging, business cards, posters and ads for free, with no attribution required. QR Code is a registered trademark of DENSO WAVE.

Is my Wi-Fi password stored anywhere?

No. The QR code is drawn right in your browser and nothing you type is sent to a server.

Which format should I download, PNG or SVG?

PNG works everywhere, from documents to social media. SVG is a vector file that stays sharp at any size, ideal for print and design tools. The SVG version doesn’t include the center logo.

How do I scan a QR code?

Point your phone’s camera app at the code and tap the link that appears. If your camera doesn’t pick it up, or you want to keep a history of your scans, use a QR code reader app.
