About the Webcam Test
This webcam test checks in your browser whether your camera works before a video call, online class or job interview. Beyond showing the picture, it measures the resolution and frames per second (fps) the camera actually delivers, so you can see whether you really get the advertised 1080p or 4K.
Video and photos are processed only in your browser and never uploaded.
How to use
- Press Turn on camera and click Allow when your browser asks to use the camera.
- Once the preview appears, read the actual resolution and frame rate under Camera info.
- Have more than one camera? Switch under Camera. To try a higher quality, change the Requested resolution.
- Use Take photo to capture a frame and Save as PNG. Turn off mirror view to save the image the way others see you.
Webcam not working? Try this
- Permission blocked: click the lock (site settings) icon left of the address bar โ Camera โ Allow, then reload.
- Windows: Settings โ Privacy & security โ Camera โ turn on camera access for apps. Also check your laptopโs camera key (F-key) or physical shutter.
- macOS: System Settings โ Privacy & Security โ Camera, and turn on your browser.
- Another app is using it: Zoom, Teams, Discord and similar apps can lock the camera. Close them and try again.
- In-app browsers (Instagram, Facebook, etc.) often donโt support the camera. Open the page in Chrome or Safari.

30 fps is smooth enough for video calls. In a dark room the camera lengthens its exposure and the frame rate can drop to around 15 fps, so add more light. If the camera doesnโt support the requested resolution, it automatically picks the closest one it can.
FAQ
Are my photos or video saved or sent anywhere?
No. Video is shown only in your browser on this device, and a photo is downloaded to your device only when you press Save as PNG. Nothing goes to a server.
Why is my picture flipped?
Mirror view is on by default so the preview feels like looking in a mirror. Others see the unflipped image; turn mirror view off to see it the same way.
My 1080p webcam shows a lower resolution.
Set the requested resolution to 1920 ร 1080 and try a USB 3.0 port or a different port. Through a USB hub or with limited bandwidth, some webcams only run at lower resolutions.
Can I test my phoneโs rear camera?
Yes. After you allow camera access, the front and rear cameras appear in the Camera list so you can switch between them.
